Sears Had Everything
Five stores left.
Sears sold DieHard batteries also Craftsman tools Kenmore their appliance brand boring was the rule Used to have a catalog before Amazon they sold tires and underwear clothes too big, too long Prices never were that great stores were sparse and drab cashiers never at their posts salesmen hard to grab Symbol of a bygone day losing selling power tallest building in Chi-town now called "Willis Tower" "Sears has everything" but profits didn't lie their income was declining and it looked like they would die. Kmart bought them, that was dumb, didn’t have a clue they were both on sinking sand some already knew They went bankrupt in '18 hedge fund CEO sold off all the well-known brands more stores had to go Sears by hundreds boarded up some were then bulldozed how they ever stayed afloat one will never know Sears had everything they cut employee pay they cheated their retirees grew smaller by the day Stanley bought the Craftsman brand Advance owns DieHard Kenmore’s still a brand that's sold no more Sears charge cards They now sell off real estate they still do repairs five Sears stores somehow endure no one seems to care. Sears can still be found online not their former self once our country’s largest store now put on the shelf "Sears has everything" is what they always said and then not much later almost all their stores were dead My K-Mart has long been gone some ten years or more finally, they tore it down built a grocery store My town's Sears is an eyesore outside trash and weeds Kohl’s and Walmart just next door serving every need Parking lot’s for carnivals meeting up for drugs doing donuts with your car nice for mice and bugs This Sears store will likely stay desolate for years then a subdivision or condos will appear Sears had everything but now they really don't just try to find an open store I'm betting that you won't According to the internet, there are five remaining Sears stores in the country, located in Braintree, MA, Concord, CA, Coral Gables, FL, El Paso, TX and Orlando, FL. There are rumored new stores in Houston, TX and Tucson, AZ and possibly somewhere in Florida. Allegedly, there are still K-Mart stores in Kendale Lakes, FL, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands and Tamuning, Guam, but that you'll have to check out for yourself. Sears is run in the US by Transformco now, owned by Eddie Lampert, a billlionaire hedge fund manager (ESL Investments), whose name is synonymous with the gradual dismemberment of Sears in the United States. Ironically, Sears Mexico is alive and well and remains successful, purchased by billionaire Carlos Slim's conglomerate Grupo Carso in 1997. It is now a part of Grupo Sanborns retail companies, and it is fully Mexican-owned, selling Mexican products. They also offer Craftsman and Kenmore products independently.

I laughed, nodded, and cried. This was terrific! I'm going back to listen and dance again!
Genius! The fusion of techno and the defunct chain is brilliant. I wish I had thought of that! This is why I’m on Substack. I’m about to play it for a third time.
